Forty Years of Making Cloth for Other People's Labels
A family fabric house, one loom at a time. The cloth came first; the name came much later.
For most of forty years, the family behind wearon.co made cloth that carried somebody else's name. Weaving, finishing and dyeing for labels you have worn, in a trade where the maker is never on the tag.
That is not a complaint. It is the training. When a mill has to satisfy other people's buyers year after year, it learns what a good cloth is by touch rather than by brochure: how it folds, how it takes dye, how it holds after the tenth wash rather than the first.
Why put a name on it now
Because at some point you have made enough good cloth for other people to want to see it worn the way you would wear it. wearon.co was founded in Dubai in 2022 as that answer: pieces cut from cloth the family would choose for itself, sold under its own name, delivered across the United Arab Emirates.
What stays the same
The order of decisions. Fibre first, then weight, then colour, then cut. The garment is the last thing designed, not the first, because a good tee is mostly a good cloth with sleeves.
What is different
You. The buyer used to be a label. Now it is a person who will wear the piece on a Tuesday, wash it on Saturday and decide for themselves whether it was worth it. We would rather be judged that way.
