How to style a t-shirt that does the quiet work

The t-shirt is the most worn and least considered thing in a wardrobe — which is exactly why it rewards care. Learning how to style a t-shirt well is less about the shirt itself and more about the hand of the cloth, the line of the shoulder and the way a hem meets the body. These are unisex pieces, cut to sit cleanly on anyone, and chosen for the cotton long before they were chosen for the colour.
It begins with the cloth
A t-shirt lives or dies on weight and weave. A denser, mid-weight jersey holds its shape across the chest, resists clinging and keeps a collar that stands rather than curls — the difference between a shirt that reads considered and one that reads disposable. Our jersey is chosen for exactly that, and every piece arrives with a Fabric Passport recording the cloth, colour and care details we hold for it.
Proportion before pairing
Get the proportion right and the rest follows. The shoulder seam should land where your shoulder ends, the sleeve should finish at mid-bicep, and the hem should clear the waistband by enough to tuck or leave loose without fuss. From there it is endlessly wearable: clean and tucked into tailored trousers, half-tucked over denim, or layered raw under an open overshirt. A restrained palette — bone, stone, washed black — means one shirt quietly answers to a whole rail of other things.
Made to be worn for years
Cotton jersey ages beautifully when it is treated gently. Wash cold, inside out, with a mild detergent; skip the tumble dryer and dry flat to hold the shape and protect the print or trim. The care notes specific to your piece live on its Fabric Passport, so there is no guessing. Looked after this way, a good t-shirt softens rather than wears out — and if the fit is not right, our 14-day returns mean nothing about the decision is final.
