How to style a top, from the first layer outward

A top sits closest to the skin, which is why it carries more of an outfit than its size suggests. Learning how to style a top well is really a question of cloth and proportion — the hand of the fabric, the line of the shoulder, the way a hem meets the waist. Designed in Dubai and cut from cloth chosen for its hand and weight, each piece is made to be the quiet first layer you reach for, season after season.
Start with the cloth
The character of a top is decided before it is ever worn — in the weight and weave of the fabric. A finer weight drapes close and reads refined under a jacket; a fuller weight holds its own shape and stands alone with ease. Every top ships with its Fabric Passport, so you can read the fibre, weight, weave and origin and choose with the same care we did. Knowing what you are wearing is the first step to wearing it well.
Proportion before pairing
A top earns its versatility through line rather than ornament. Worn loose over a tailored trouser, it relaxes the silhouette; tucked at a high waist, it lengthens it. Because the cut is framed to suit every body, the same piece reads sharp with denim and considered under a coat — one top, several lives. Let the shoulder seam fall where it should and the rest of the outfit follows.
Wear it longer
A good top should improve with knowing, not wear out from washing. Follow the care notes in the Fabric Passport — for most of our cloth that means a cold wash, reshaped and dried flat away from direct heat, which protects the weave and keeps the colour true. Worn and rested in turn, rather than laundered after every wear, the fabric stays honest for years. If a piece does not settle as it should, our 14-day returns give you room to be sure.
